Rotary Hold Up

With the assistance of Amarillo Police Department, Rotarians stop out of state tourists  at the Texas Travel Bureau on east I-40 every Wednesday during the Summer months and invite them to spend the night in Amarillo, have dinner in the Palo Duro Canyon and see that evening's performance of the musical drama TEXAS. Co-sponsoring the Holdup are the Hampton Inn, The Big Texan and TEXAS.

The first Hold Up victims of the year are Gerry Taylor (him) from Wainfleet, Canada and Gerry Washburn (her) from Rockledge, Florida.  These two are on a four month + cross country tour.  They are pictured here with Corporal Janie Cortez, the arresting officer, about to head in to see Texas, and lastly in the amphitheater waiting for the show to start.  Thanks to Bill & Karen Archinal for hosting this couple.

Canada strikes again!  Have you ever noticed there are a lot of Canadians trekking through Amarillo during the summer?  Who knew?  This is our June 27th victims, Michel and Pierette Roy from Montreal Canada.  They are pictured here with Corporal Janie Cortez, the arresting officer and with their hostess, Mollie Barney.  They are joined by Gregg Bynum, Bill Archinal and Mike Good.

The Rotary Club of Amarillo's summer Holdup program continues.  Rotarians Mike Good, Bill Archinal and Mark Haworth held up Dick and Donnie Hayden from Pagosa Springs, Colorado, with the aide of Nan Haworth and Amarillo Police Department Corporal Janie Cortez.
